The Shelbourne Hotel
The luxurious five-star hotel opened its doors to welcome privileged guests in 1824. The majestic building, nearly 200 years old, is one of the premier hotels in Dublin’s city center. Guests enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and lavish sitting areas.
The elegant rooms feature plush bedding and generously sized bathrooms with exclusive amenities.
Within the hotel is award-winning restaurants that offer an array of options, from fresh seafood and tender steak to a perfect High Tea. The hotel overlooks St. Stephen’s Green, it is steps away from the famous Grafton Street and is mere minutes from several of Dublin’s most famous attractions.
The City of Dublin
Dublin has seen dramatic growth in recent years. There are countless things visitors to the city should do and see. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy tours and events at Croke Park and Aviva Stadium.
You can also go rafting down the Liffey River or kayaking through the city center. Stroll along the famous Grafton Street and stop to listen and watch the many street performers.
Spend an afternoon visiting 18th-century Trinity College. The Whiskey Museum, Guinness Storehouse, and Teeling Distillery all offer tours and tastings at their facilities. You must see more of the country with my three favorite day tours from Dublin – the Cliffs of Mohr, Kilkenny, and Cork and Blarney.
If you are looking for excellent accommodations check out the Fitzwilliam Hotel, Merrion Hotel, or the boutique Dylan Hotel.
Some outstanding restaurants in the area are the Cliff Townhouse, Hugo’s, and Brookwood. I also enjoyed dining at Bloom Brasserie, The Farm, Green 19, and Klaw Restaurants.
