Wing Creek Resort – The Perfect Destination For A Digital Detox
Wing Creek Resort has no telephones, TVs, or internet service in any of the cottages.
The focus is on disconnecting from the digital world to reconnect with yourself, nature, and your partner. The tranquil private lakefront property has stunning views of the Purcell Mountains and Kootenay Lake.
It is approximately a 45-minute drive from Nelson, British Columbia, Canada. It is named after the fresh mountain water stream that runs through the property, Wing Creek.
Wing Creek Resort Cottages
The adult-only resort currently contains one 2-bedroom cabin, five 1-bedroom cottages, and one two-bedroom vacation home. Each cottage offers a wood-burning fireplace and views of Kootenay Lake from the veranda.

My stay was in a Cedarbrook Cottage. It is a one-bedroom cottage that accommodates one or two people with a queen-size bed. The ensuite bathroom contains a bathtub and rain shower.
The full kitchen, with a dining table and chairs, is equipped with everything you need to cook a nice lunch or dinner. It has hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, and granite countertops.
There is also a shared BBQ available behind the cottages for all guests to use. The vaulted ceilings and large windows give a spacious feeling with beautiful views. The wood-burning fireplace adds to a lovely romantic evening; listening to the sounds of the crackling and popping wood burning while enjoying a nice glass of local wine.
Each cottage is supplied with a small basket of snacks and a bottle of wine for purchase. You will also have a book full of information about the area. It includes:
- activities
- attractions
- rainy day activities
- festivals
- golf
- guided tours
- parks
- rentals (kayaks, canoes, boats, etc.)
- restaurants
- shopping and services
Wing Creek Resort is nestled along the Purcell Mountains, and next to the Kootenay Lake, so you will see some wildlife. Exactly what is hard to say, but the area is known for sightings of Humming Birds, Eagles, Moose, Elk, Deer, Cougars, Wolves, Foxes, and Bears.
The area information book in your cottage includes the difference between Black Bears and Grizzly Bears and what to do if you encounter either of them.
The deck is a great place to relax with your morning coffee and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Here you will enjoy stunning views of the mountains and lake below.
You may also have a beautiful view of the orchard and garden. If you do not hear any wildlife, you may listen to the relaxing sounds of Wing Creek flowing through the property.
The resort also has a private beach area with chairs and a fire pit along the lake.
They have designed one space for each cottage. It is a bit of a walk to get down to or back up to the cabins, but they have a nice wide zig-zag path with a couple of spots with chairs to rest and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.
In And Around Wing Creek Resort
At Wing Creek Resort you can relax even more with a luxurious massage at the Spa.
Here you will relax to the natural sounds of nature and the creek next to the spa area. Browse through the gift shop and art gallery which highlights pieces from local artists.
Enjoy the outdoors during your stay with 20 acres to explore. Discover the private beach with firepits, walking trails, flower gardens, the organic orchard, and surrounding forest.
There are numerous things to do in the area including a new zip-line, fishing, whitewater rafting, kayaking, golfing, biking, hiking, and skiing in the winter. Stroll through the nearby town of Kaslo, drive twenty minutes to the Ainsworth Hot Springs, or about 45-minutes to the town of Nelson.

You spelled Kaslo wrong…..it’s KASLO not Kalso

Wow! This looks beautiful!
I’ve been dying to go up to Canada to ‘get away from it all’. As much as I love this community of creatives, it’s really so special to be able to disconnect for a few days!
Those cabins look so cozy!! I need to take my husband to one of those!
