The 19th-Century Building
I almost walked by The5Rooms hotel without even noticing it. There was only a very small name card on above the buzzer stating the hotel name. This is common with many of the best hotels in Barcelona, Spain. After entering the 19th-century Catalan apartment building, I walked across the large interior courtyard. The spacious area had a black and white checkered floor surrounded by five levels of arched windows.
Upon entering the first-level lounge area, I was surprised by the homey communal area. The ‘check-in’ area was a simple white table and two chairs. The surrounding area was tastefully decorated with low-hanging lights, large mirrors, and custom seating areas with colorful pillows. The original five rooms are on the first floor.
The second floor contains two large tables where guests can enjoy their buffet breakfast. This floor was an addition several years after the original five rooms. Throughout this second floor and the first-floor guests can enjoy several seating areas and numerous books and various travel guides.
The Bright Rooms
All the rooms have exposed brick walls and white or neutral décor. With low beds and eccentric artwork, it gives off a loft-style relaxing feel to the rooms. The low beds are one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The pillows made me feel like I was resting my head on the clouds. The spacious bathrooms contained oversized sinks, large showers, and hair dryers. There were also locally made products for me to use. All the rooms include air conditioning and heating, soundproof windows, satellite TV, telephone, and wireless internet. The double rooms have one queen or two twin beds. The junior suites have one king or two twin beds.
The two fully equipped apartments are in another building a couple of doors down from the main building. They are very spacious for guests who may be enjoying extended stays and those who enjoy more space. They are ideal for families as they can accommodate up to four people. The living room contains a sofa and a sofa bed, providing two twin beds. All the cooking utensils you require are available along with a microwave, dishwasher, toaster, and coffee maker. The apartments also have a TV, WIFI, heating and air conditioning, a washing machine, and iron. You can relax in the bedroom with a queen-size bed and a second TV. Enjoy dinner in the dining room or on the outside terrace, all contributing to a 5-star hotel experience.

A variety of bread, pastries, jams, and yogurts are also available. You also have an arrangement of coffee, teas, and juices to choose from. The Eixample Neighborhood
The5rooms boutique hotel is located steps away from the Urquinaona metro station. This station is known to be somewhat of a maze. Make sure you exit onto Pau Claris or Laietana because if you take another exit you could end up two blocks away. The Eixample area and this boutique hotel are surrounded by cafes, restaurants, bars, and boutique shops. It is in a great location as many of the city’s landmarks and attractions are within walking distance. This includes Plaça de Catalunya, the Arc de Triomf, Palau de la Musica, Las Ramblas, Parc de la Ciutadella, and several museums. Parc de la Ciutadella contains the most beautiful fountain in all of Barcelona (in my opinion), the city zoo, and the Catalan Parliament building. You can also discover some of Gaudi’s first commissioned works. With so many things within walking distance, The5Rooms is one of the best places to stay in Barcelona.
A Great City Escape
Barcelona is not a quiet city. It is great to be able to escape and relax in this calming space. The owner, Yessica, is always welcoming and speaks several languages. This design hotel Barcelona is a great choice. You need to notify them when you will be arriving because the staff is not always on-site to check you in. If advanced arrangements are made, you can bring your small dog with you. When wondering where to stay in Barcelona, Spain, you should consider The5Rooms Boutique Hotel.
