Oso Negro Café is one of the best cafés in Nelson, BC. The town is nestled in the majestic Selkirk Mountains in British Columbia, Canada. Along with freshwater, clean air, stunning landscapes, good food, and friendly faces; there is also fantastic coffee.
The Town of Nelson, BC.
Nelson has over 350 beautiful restored heritage buildings and is full of small local shops, art galleries, and is home to a few microbreweries. Oso Negro Café is located one block above the famous Baker Street. Some other excellent places to eat at are Finley’s Bar & Grill for the best burger I have ever had, the Beetroot Burger. Next door to Finley’s is Sage Restaurant. Dine amongst the best views in the town on their outdoor patio. Additionally, one of my other favorites in Nelson is All Season’s Restaurant.
The town is a great year-round destination. The summer months in Nelson are great for golfing, hiking, fishing, boating, mountain biking, and relaxing on the beach. During the winter months skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and winter hiking are common activities.
The vibrant arts and cultural scene in Nelson, BC is becoming an international sensation with one of the fastest-growing burlesque scenes in Western Canada. Home to the Canadian Legend of Burlesque, Judith Stein, and the sensational Vesper Valentine this small town is a hotbed of burlesque talent!
Leading the charge to help bring burlesque to the forefront of people’s minds and hearts is the vivacious and vibrant Vesper Valentine. No stranger to the stage this producer/performer has had the pleasure of performing in a variety of Burlesque Festivals across North America. Utilizing her background and skills as an event coordinator, Vesper quickly took to producing where she has enjoyed being able to offer a place for local artists to showcase their talents. Over the past three years, she has brought her local shows from an audience of 160 to a record-breaking 350 at her Tease the Season Christmas Cabaret. She is currently working on bringing in a vast array of talent for the 1st Annual Kootenay Burlesque Festival. It is a two-day celebration of all things burlesque that showcases some of the best local and international burlesque performers. The first annual Kootenay Burlesque Festival happened on June 29 & 30, 2018.
A short drive from Nelson is the Ainsworth Hot Springs. It is worth going for a few hours then head up to the Wing Creek Resort in Kaslo for a digital detox. Kaslo is about an hour’s drive from Nelson.
