The Town of Nelson

Nelson, BC
View of part of Nelson

Nestled in the Selkirk Mountains along the west arm of Kootenay Lake is the town of Nelson. It has quickly become known for its culinary diversity. Home to award-winning cooking school, Selkirk College, the town has more cafés and restaurants per capita than San Francisco and Manhattan.

Several graduates stay in the area to live and work after graduation. Thus, leading to several funky coffee shops, vegetarian-inspired restaurants, vegan-inspired desserts, and health-conscious pub fare. Oso Negro is one of my favorites cafes there.

Nelson has countless summer activities and winter sports, yoga studios, and a fast-growing burlesque scene. Numerous galleries and over 350 restored Heritage Buildings can be found throughout the town. You should also visit these three parks while in Nelson.

All Seasons Café Menu

The charming restaurant has a menu with something for everyone. The ingredients they use are sustainable and/or locally sourced.

By using the best local ingredients, the menu and dishes change seasonally. All the delicious meals are made from scratch by chef Baily Smith and owner and menu architect, Paul Archambault.

The restaurant also has an excellent wine list. Nelson is located within hours of some of the best wineries in British Columbia.  Their wine list contains many local BC wines, some of them are top-tier wines. Several local beers are also available.

The House Setting

All Seasons Café is in a small house setting. Guests can either dine in either the glass-enclosed terrace, the romantic dimly lit dining room, or the outdoor veranda in the summer months.

The restaurant can be a little tricky to find at 620 Herridge Lane. It is hidden in an alley between Josephine Street and Hall Street.

The alley runs parallel with Nelson’s main street, Baker Street. Parking is also insufficient in the alley. You can check out their website here.

Looking for a place to stay in Nelson, The Prestige Lakeside Resort is my favorite. However, if you want to really get away from it all, Wing Creek Resort is perfect. It is about a 45-minute drive from Nelson.
